ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD MEETING 

 

April 4, 2005

 

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Barnell Albers at 5:08 p.m. in the Town Hall.

Board members present were: Chairman Barnell Albers, Bill Zeltwanger, and Charlie Anderson. Members Jacquelyn Ditsler and Billy Howk were absent.

City Secretary, Linda Suggs, read the minutes of the March 5, 2005 meeting. Corrections were made to the last paragraph by Zeltwanger and Suggs. Motion by Anderson to approve the minutes as corrected; second by Zeltwanger. Motion passed with all in favor.

After a discussion of the building and parking situation on Moore's Fort Block, the Board considered the following items:

•1.     Addition to Roundtop Repair Shop: After a discussion of the drawings a motion was made by Zeltwanger to approve the permit to construct a 6400 square foot addition to the building located at 606 North Washington Street with the condition that the final exterior design be approved by the Board; second by Anderson. Motion passed with all in favor.

•2.     Move gazebo from Henkel Square to Weyant Road: Motion by Anderson to approve the permit to move a gazebo from Henkel Square to Weyant Road; second by Zeltwanger. Motion passed with all in favor.

•3.     Addition of porch roof and retail use and installation of a sign at 311 North Live Oak Street: Motion by Zeltwanger to approve the request to add a porch roof to the existing garage at 311 North Live Oak Street; second by Anderson. Motion passed with all in favor. Motion by Anderson to approve the request to install a sign at 311 North Live Oak Street, with the condition that the sign be ten (10) feet inside the property line; second by Zeltwanger. Motion passed with all in favor. Motion by Zeltwanger to approve the request to add a retail use to the property at 311 North Live Oak Street, with the condition that the parking be immediately in front of the gallery and that any expansion to the parking be to the side (not closer to the road); second by Anderson. Motion passed with all in favor.

•4.     Other business: Mrs. Suggs was asked whether the new vendors at the Antique Show had paid for vendor permits. She replied that not everyone had paid yet, but that they had been mailed the forms.

     There was discussion about the temporary sign on Henkel Square and how long it had been up. Motion by Albers that a letter be sent to Texas Pioneer Arts Foundation to remind them of the sign ordinance and to request that the sign be removed; second by Zeltwanger. Motion passed with all in favor.

     After discussion of the signage at Village Green, Mrs. Suggs was instructed to write a letter to Katherine Druckman reminding her of the need to obtain a permit for a permanent sign and suggesting that the buildings be placed in a more aesthically pleasing arrangement when they are moved.

     A discussion ensued concerning the rights of property owners to remove fences and trees in fencelines and how that pertains to the tree replacement provisions of the Land Use Ordinance.
