ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD MEETING 

 

March 19, 2007

 

 

      The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman Jeannette Burger at 7:05 p.m. in the Town Hall.

      Board members present: Vice-Chairman Jeannette Burger, Gerry Anderson, Billy Howk, Scotty Lynch

      Board members absent: Chairman Charlie Anderson, Alternate Deborah Patch

      The City Secretary read the minutes of the February 19, 2007 meeting. Motion by Anderson to approve the minutes as read; second by Howk. Motion passed with all in favor.

      The Board considered the following items:

  1. Addition to barn, and replacement of roof and addition of windows to garage at 207 West Mill Street: Jacquelyn Distler was present to represented this item. After discussion of the location of the barn, paint color, setbacks, materials, and the status of non-conforming buildings; a motion was made by Anderson to approve the construction of a 12' addition and a 10' shed roof on the opposite side of the barn at 207 West Mill Street, with the following conditions:
  • 1) that a site plan be submitted to the City Secretary to be added to the file; and
  • 2) that metal siding be used to match the existing siding.

            Second by Howk. Motion passed with all in favor.

            Discussion then centered on the material being used to construct the new roof, extend the walls, and for the new windows on the garage. Motion by Anderson to approve the replacement of the existing mansard roof on the garage with one that has an 8/12 pitch, raising the side walls of the garage to accommodate the steeper pitch, and the addition of six windows to the garage at 207 West Mill Street; second by Lynch. Motion passed with all in favor.

  1. Construction of home at 399 East Mill Street: James Rollen was present to represent this item. After discussion of the location, materials, and roof pitch, a motion was made by Anderson to approve the construction of a 2,800 square foot home with 900 square feet of porches at 399 East Mill Street; second by Lynch. Motion passed with all in favor.
  2. Other Business: The City Secretary passed out the changes to the Land Use Ordinance passed by the Town Council. After discussion about the lack of knowledge of the Land Use Ordinance by the Town's property owners, a motion was made by Anderson that the City Secretary be instructed to send a letter to all property owners informing them of the existence of the Land Use Ordinance and how they can obtain a copy; second by Lynch. Motion passed with all in favor.
